2010 SBDA Emerging Artist Competition

Now in its third year, the Emerging Artist competition celebrates young designers and their creativity. It is open to designers 18 years of age and younger. There are no limitations on medium, as long as the finished piece is wearable jewelry. You may now register online for the 2010 Saul Bell Award Emerging Artist competition! Register Now!

Participants
We invite young designers 18 years of age and younger to take part in the third annual Saul Bell Design Award Emerging Artist competition. Employees of Rio Grande or of any affiliate or participating company (and their immediate family members) may not participate.

Judging Criteria
Pieces are judged on the following criteria:
• The innovation and uniqueness of the design.
• The quality of workmanship (for final judging).

How to Enter
New this year, you can register online. Follow the online instructions, submit your 10meg image and for a $35 fee, Rio will print and mount an 8½" x 11" photo for preliminary judging. Or, fill out the form on the back of your Emerging Artist Call for Entries and supply one rendering or photograph (at least 4" x 6") mounted on a white matte board (must be 8½" x 11"); no slides, please. Keep a copy of your rendering or photograph; submissions will not be returned. Do not send finished pieces unless asked to do so by Rio Grande. Submissions which do not meet entry criteria may be disqualified. You may submit as many entries as you wish. Send each rendering or photograph with a copy of the entry form (one per entry) and a $25 entry fee (per entry) by December 3, 2009 to:

Finalists
Finalists will be notified and asked to produce their designs for judging. Finished pieces must be received by January 29, 2010.

Winners
Winners will be notified by phone and/or mail and announced formally to the public during JCK Las Vegas, 2010.

The Reward
First Place - $500 Rio Grande Gift Certificate
Second Place - $250 Rio Grande Gift Certificate
Third Place - $100 Rio Grande Gift Certificate

All finalists receive a certificate recognizing their achievement.

Schedule
December 3, 2009 Renderings or photographs must be received by Rio Grande.
January 8, 2010 Finalists will be selected and notified.
January 29, 2010 Completed pieces must be received by Rio Grande.
May 2010 Winners announced to the public during JCK Las Vegas, 2010, and celebrated during an invitation-only gala.
